Bright View Cottage is a much loved pet friendly oceanfront cottage on 14 acres with a secluded sandy beach close by. Painted a vibrant yellow with emerald green trim this is a cottage that embraces the Nova Scotian love of colourful homes. Impossible to miss, you cannot help but smile when you arrive at this delightful seaside cottage.
Completely renovated, the main floor features an open concept kitchen, living room, dining area with an office nook, and a 4 piece bathroom that includes laundry facilities. The kitchen has a fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher and an assortment of smaller appliances. The comfortably furnished living room features a large bay window with bench seating to take advantage of that captivating view. A large wooden table in the dining area encourages leisurely family meals together.
The cottage sleeps 5 people in three bedrooms. There is a queen size bed in the master bedroom, two twin beds in the second bedroom and a single twin bed in the third bedroom. From the master bedroom a sliding patio door leads to the upper balcony. With chairs and a magnificent seaside view, this is a glorious place to spend the day suntanning and relaxing.
On sunny calm days a fresh breeze blows though the house encouraging you to get out and explore. While on wet overcast days it is nice to hunker down by the wood stove and relax listening to music or playing board games in cozy comfort.
Location
Bright View Cottage is located on the eastern shore of Lockeport Harbour in a sparsely populated seaside community called East Ragged Island . Just around the corner from Ragged Island Retreat and Black Point Cottage.
The immediate area is stunningly beautiful. You will want to get out and explore the rugged shoreline. Down the lane is a natural beach. While, not far is a swimming spot known by locals as the ‘deep hole’. Also close by are the beautiful Louis Head Beach and Crescent Beach.
It is about a 15 minute drive to the closest town of Lockeport. The historic town of Shelburne, known for its museums, restaurants, theatre and harbour is about 30 minutes by car. A little further afield are Liverpool and Lunenburg. It is a 2-hour drive to Halifax International Airport and 1.5 hours to the ferry terminal in Yarmouth.

Bright View Cottage is open from May to November.
Long weekend and long-term rentals are subject to availability.
All bookings must be received 3 days in advance of arrival – no same-day bookings.
This is a non-smoking property.
Pets are permitted. There is a $50 pet cleaning fee.

“We All Slept Like Babies”
We had a very pleasant stay at the cottage this past week. The cottage was in very good condition and we are a little fussy. With new mattresses we all slept like babies. Our beaches in Ontario are fresh water so exploring the beach at the cottage was a treat especially at low tide. Thank you for the detailed instructions and tourist information. This past week has been both memorable and pleasant.

Wanted to let you know that we enjoyed the soft sheets at night after our busy days at the beaches. We also loved playing your board games after catching crabs in the bay. The crabs really enjoyed our leftover meat and created some entertainment for the kids while we did the dishes. We enjoyed the full moon and the low tides. We really enjoyed our stay.
